Michael Humphries		CA, PP michael@dollarsandsense.co.nz Director of Humphries Associates, Michael is a qualified chartered accountant and has been in public practice since 1987. He specialises in business development work with clients , focusing on improving the performance of businesses and helping people meet their business and personal goals. Michael also specialises in all areas of trusts and tax planning. Michael started his accounting career with Fletcher Challenge and worked in both retail, trade and manufacturing units, specialising in management information and costing systems. Since switching to public practice in 1987, he has been able to take many of the corporate methodologies and apply them to small businesses. Michael is married with 3 daughters and is frantically saving for his future wedding costs. Interests include involvement with his local church, boating, fishing and playing tennis with the family.
Blair Jarvis		B.Bus, CA, PP blair@dollarsandsense.co.nz Blair completed his degree in 1997 followed by admission as a Chartered Accountant in 1998 and gained his public practice certificate in 2002. Working as practice manager for Humphries Associates since its inception in August 2000, Blair also worked with Michael Humphries for five years prior to this. Blair’s career interests centre on trusts and structures to maximise taxation opportunities, and providing solutions to minimise time spent on taxation compliance work. He also has a passion for providing computer software solutions for small to medium sized businesses. Blair has a family of two children and in his spare time enjoys music, golf, fishing and boating.
Raymond Jacobsen		B.Bus Accounting; Dip Prof Acct; CA raymond@dollarsandsense.co.nz Raymond completed his university studies in 2003 and commenced fulltime employment with Humphries Associates in late 2003. Raymond has an interest in information technology and can advise on all aspects of accounting and taxation.
Lloyd Preston		B.Com, Dip. Com, CA lloyd@dollarsandsense.co.nz A senior accountant for Humphries Associates, Lloyd has varied business experience based in sales and marketing, at both wholesale and retail level. Lloyd has gained his qualifications from the University of Auckland and has extensive knowledge of Information and Management Systems as well as accountancy procedure. Lloyd is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand and specialises in taxation, accounting and operational systems. Lloyd can provide considerable assistance to clients in resolving, reengineering or improving small to medium business systems, as well as meeting their accounting requirements. Lloyd’s outside interests revolve around his family of four children, along with ‘home improvements’ the Kiwi way.
Steve Barlow		B.Com steve@dollarsandsense.co.nz Steve returned to work with Humphries Associates in February 2004, having spent 4 years with the previous partnership in the late 80's/early 90s. Steve has worked in a variety of industries, including printing, manufacturing, engineering, retail (clothing), and food. He has also spent some time working for Air New Zealand, a Health Board, and a City Council, and for good measure, spent some time as a self-employed contractor. His roles have ranged from accounting, through being part of the management team, to having responsibility for the operations of a multi-million dollar turnover factory. Steve specialises in business development, and has a passion for helping clients establish efficient businesses. He is keen to see that clients have the right structure in place to facilitate growth and ensure their dreams can be achieved. Steve's non-work interests include spending time with his wife and three children, reading, genealogy and doing up their house and garden.
Angela Kirk		angela@dollarsandsense.co.nz Angela started work for Humphries Associates in 2005, while studying at the University of Auckland.  After completing her studies, Angela commenced full time employment in 2007.  While focusing on compliance services, Angela is interested in structures to minimise taxation on investment properties. In her spare time, Angela enjoys cooking, travelling, genealogy and supporting her two favourite teams - The Blues and the All Blacks.
Sonya Harper		sonya@dollarsandsense.co.nz Sonya is the Office Manager at Humphries Associates and is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations.
