Angela Kirk – A Biography

Angela grew up in Auckland and while attending Avondale College found that she both really enjoyed and excelled at Accounting and Economics in high school.

Angela decided to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Auckland majoring in Accounting. While she was studying full time she was offered a part time position at Humphries Associates in 2005.

She found that the practical experience that she was receiving at Humphries was a real asset as she was able to apply the university theory that she was learning every day to her work.

While another team member was overseas, Angela got the opportunity to experience the office manager position for a few months. She really enjoyed this experience as she got to put names to many clients, and to see a holistic view of the work we do here.

She relished the challenge of turning a clients "box of records" into a set of financial statements that clients valued and were able to use in a number of ways. After graduating from the University of Auckland in 2007 with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Graduate Diploma of Commerce, she began a full time position at Humphries Associates.

Over the past few years she has worked in varying areas of taxation. Angela is now an Intermediate Accountant and is working towards becoming a Senior Accountant and finalizing her experience in order to complete her work towards gaining Chartered Accountancy.

Angela could not imagine leaving Humphries. She could not really imagine any other place to work. The close-knit team environment here, the emphasis on fun and a great lifestyle outside of work as well as a strong emphasis on providing excellence to clients has resulted.

Outside of work she has a great number of interests. She loves food and cooking and is always cooking and baking for family and friends, as well as bringing in morning tea samples for the team at Humphries to try. Not surprisingly, they are always encouraging this interest of hers.

Angela loves to travel and has been to Australia several times as well as many places all over New Zealand. She is currently planning a trip to Europe in the near future and can't wait! She is a great rugby fan and can be often found on the weekends at Eden Park supporting the Blues, Auckland or the All Blacks.
