Rani was born in Guntur, a well renowned academic town in the Indian subcontinent. Heavily influenced by the incredible lifestyle and education in New Zealand that her parents' friends in Auckland always bragged about, her parent's decided to give their family the same opportunities and they immigrated to New Zealand. Rani has been calling Auckland home ever since.
Rani went to Mt Roskill Grammar School and initially did not have a favourite subject or area that she wanted to pursue as a career but Accounting got her attention in 5th form. Soon it became a subject that she looked forward to in class and complemented her interest in numbers.
Rani went on to complete a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance at The University of Auckland in 2008 and completed a Graduate Diploma in Commerce in 2009.
Work experience
Rani worked part time as a trainee accountant at Jacobsen Associates from April-August 2008 while she was in the final year of her degree.
She started working for Humphries Associates Limited from April 2010, working as the office manager was a great introduction to the accounting profession. She developed experience in the day to day workings of the office, improved her communication skills and gained invaluable skills in team work and time management.
Through this role, she also became proficient in Banklink and Companies Office.
Rani is currently gaining her year of general experience before she starts pursuing her dream of becoming a Chartered Accountant.
Interests
During her University years, Rani volunteered at a Trade Aid store in High Street. This gave her a glimpse into the trading industry in the world and the exploitation of some small businesses in the Third World.
She also volunteered at Citizens Advice Bureau and The Salvation Army.
Rani is an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction. Sudoku and Code crackers are her two stress relievers. She loves singing and spending time with family and friends. She can also speak fluent Telugu, basic Hindi and German.She is currently trying her hand at cooking.
