We help you plan for your retirement and handover of the business. This is something that should be put into place at least 5 years before you actually intend to retire or sell your business. It involves making sure your accounting system is providing reliable information, that your financial management and internal control systems are working properly and that you have a very clear strategic position so that a potential buyer can understand your business value proposition. It also involves having a management succession plan in place, which in turn usually means the development of a team training program, a review of your organization chart and position descriptions, your compensation plan, and employee profit sharing. It may also involve counselling with family members who may or may not be ready (or even want to) play a role in the future running of the business. It will also involve a review of the financing of your retirement in the event that an employee or relative plans to buy you out.
